Charlotte Figi, a young girl with a rare form of epilepsy know as Dravet syndrome, died earlier this week at the age of 13. Her strength and bravery in the face of illness has helped medical marijuana and CBD oils industry to become mainstream.
During her early years, Charlotte suffered hundreds of grand mal seizures per week. She could hardly speak and went into repeated cardiac arrest. After doctors had exhausted all traditional options, her mother turned to medical marijuana shops in Colorado for help. Her condition improved greatly after being introduced to oils infused with a strain of cannabis low in THC but high in the cannabidiol, or CBD. This inspired the oil’s name Charlotte’s Web, now used in the hopes of treating seizures. On her Realm of Caring Facebook page the organization wrote “Charlotte’s story directly impacted thousands of families across the globe and has changed the face of cannabis in many ways.”
We would like to thank Charlotte for her life long dedication to helping others.
